Important note on our desert weather: It is more like Gila Bend than Phoenix or higher elevations approaching the Mogollon Rim.  If it's wet there, it's likely to be dry here. Click on  Weather Channel

Trail Rides

Horseback riding at these stables south of Phoenix with lead wrangler Steve and his fellow wranglers leave you with the feeling you've left civilization way behind once you're in back country.  It's as if you're immersed in the Old West as you go down washes and through passes that make up the grandeur of the desert and nearby mountains.  Unique to the ranch is the choice of not riding nose to tail while remaining behind the lead wrangler. Horse riding is therapeutic as the disabled have ridden with us comfortably as well.   Note: Minimum trail ride age is 6 years old.
Free pony rides for those under 6 years of age.

Riding Lessons

Respect for and knowledge
of a horse is a fundamental part of teaching people to ride. A horse won't be ridden until you've cleaned its hooves, brushed it, saddled it. Experienced staff teach saddling, riding techniques, and horse care. You'll be riding
the open spaces of the Sonoran Desert down washes and through passes on acres of land that can go far into the back country cut off from civilization. Lessons are $25 per hour, pay as you go, and $20/hr. with a prepaid 5-lesson contract. The sixth riding lesson is free.

Boarding

Boarding of horses at Hidden Valley Stables reflects optimum knowledge and understanding of the stabled horse. Co-owner/lead wrangler has boarded horses in Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, and Texas for 40 years. At a cost of only $175 per month horses are fed, watered, and exercised twice per day at this licensed boarding stable a few miles south of Phoenix. On call veterinarian. 3-acre exercise facility and round-pen facility.
